Mount Merapi 🌋 is one of Indonesia's 🇮🇩 most active and famous volcanoes. It stands about 2,930 meters tall 🏔️, located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta. The name "Merapi" means "Mountain of Fire" 🔥 in Javanese — a perfect name because of its frequent eruptions 🌋💥.

Merapi is a stratovolcano 🏔️, known for its steep sides and powerful explosions. It's part of the Pacific Ring of Fire 🔥🌎, an area known for earthquakes and volcanoes. The volcano has a long history of eruptions, including a deadly one in 2010 ⚠️ that caused many casualties and evacuations 🚨.
