Did you know that as soon as food gets covered by your saliva it is already being digested? There are special components in saliva that begins the digestion process even before it gets to the stomach!

The Stomach

The stomach is where most of the magical parts of digestion happen! The acidic juices in the stomach and the special chemical reactions help your food get broken down to smaller bits and pieces. They are so small that your food looks unrecognizable!

The Esophagus (The Throat)

The esophagus (the throat) is a very important muscle in the digestive system that carries food and liquids from the mouth toward the stomach. Almost like a slip-and-slide!

The Duodenum

The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine, this is a tube that begins to absorb important nutrients from the food like vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to help keep your brain smart and body strong!

The Je.jen.um

The Je.jen.um is the second part of the small intestine, this part also absorbs important nutrients such as sugars, amino acids, and fatty acids! Did you know that there are 12 essential amino acids and 9 of them can solely come from food?! Large Intestine

When your food reaches the large intestine, it’s not food anymore, it’s now the waste of the food that the body does not need. The last droplets of water are absorbed in this part and turn the waste from a liquid into hard pieces and it goes through the long tube and turns into 💩!

Wow, you’ve seen a lot in the digestive system! The 'End' is the last part of the digestive system, this is where all of the small chunks of 💩 get packed together until there is enough to be evacuated out of the body into the toilet!
