I am on weekend duty, which mainly involves planning shipments to Wal Mart and Sam’s. I can work from home, but that can be a challenge with 3 dogs, 4 teenagers, and my wife all there while I am trying to work. I am also on call 24/7 on the weekend, and from the time I get home until the next morning through the week. This goes on until Friday, when I hand off the phone to the analyst on duty next weekend. I only have to cover one weekend about every 3 months, so it is not too bad, but I really wish we had a better on call phone. It would be nice if the rumor is true that we are getting a BlackBerry, to replace the old cell phone we are using. Working from home has its advantages, I was able to take Kathi to lunch and even gave the dog a bath. I don’t suppose I could have done that at the office.
