Today’s update on the nuclear plant crisis in Japan.

There are troubling new developments in the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan.
We need to remember that, while there is much that we don’t know about the situation at Japan’s nuclear power plants, there are some serious red flags to be seen:
1) The U.S Navy has repositioned the 7th Fleet, including the aircraft carrier the USS Ronald Reagan, further from the Japanese coastline. I think any move made by the Navy in this situation is carefully considered, so they are obviously taking the threat of radiation exposure very seriously.
2) The Japanese government has placed nine nuclear reactors under states of emergency. The problems appear to be growing, as there are now nine reactors at three different sites that are all at risk of catastrophic failures.
3) Japan has asked the U.S.A and the United Nations to help with the nuclear crisis. While the Japanese government still insists that there has been no release of radiation serious enough to cause illness or death, they are pleading for help from the U.S. and the U.N. to deal with the crisis.
Red Alert: Nuclear Meltdown at Quake-Damaged Japanese Plant | STRATFOR.
From Stratfor.com. This may or may not be a disaster, but the latest reports from Japan on the earthquake-and-tsunami-damaged nuclear reactor do not sound good. The Japanese government is furiously spinning the situation:
The government insisted radiation levels were low following Saturday’s explosion, saying the blast had not affected the reactor core container.
Here is an update from R.S. McCain. There are now apparently three reactors at risk of melting down.
